Event Description
Join Christine as she talks about her book, Facing the Unfathomable. When a mother is told of the death of her child, the whole world feels as though it just stops. Jono was 31 years old, a successful junior lawyer, and he had no addictions or known mental health issues, yet he took his own life.
Christine worked in the death, dying and bereavement field for more than twenty years, but nothing in her education or work experience helped her to make sense of this tragedy. It was an effort for her to keep taking that next breath as she struggled with the trauma of her son’s death.
Facing the Unfathomable lays bare the pain of a mother trying to grab hold of anything that makes sense. This book is not about how to fix the pain of grief. It’s a reflection on how to reconnect with the living, to find a pathway through the blackest of pain back to life.
