Event Concluded

Event Description

Taking families back to the time of snail mail, this series of monthly events will have children writing and posting letters. Run by the Heather Zubek, a card carrying member of The Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society, each session will concentrate on a particular theme.

The theme for June is: Changing the World One Letter at a Time - writing to organisations, people, or governments to remind them of their social conscience.

Heather Zubek is a freelance writer and educator who has worked in the media, business and education. As an avid reader and read-aloud-advocate, Heather is conscious of the fact that early readers make life-long readers and loves helping parents get their children hooked on books. Heather currently teaches creative writing, runs book clubs for both adults and children as well as writing clubs and Junior Reporter Clubs. She often reminds writers of all levels that ‘good writers write, great writers read’.

As an avid letter writer, Heather also believes in the quote attributed to Jane Austen: ‘Let us never underestimate the power of a well-written letter’.

One letter can not only make someone’s day but it can change the world!
