Event Description

Backyard berries are a real homegrown treat, and a well-designed berry patch can be a very productive and delicious addition to large, small and even rental gardens! Learn about the different types of berry crops like strawberries, blueberries, currants, raspberries, boysenberries and mulberries, as well as their management needs like soil and pruning.

Kat Lavers is a small space food production specialist, gardening educator and permaculture designer. Her work reconnects people with the land under their feet, and helps them experience the abundance of growing food as well as their role in wider ecosystems. Her urban permaculture system ‘The Plummery‘ is a tiny 1/14th acre (280m2) suburban block, but produces almost all the household’s veggies, herbs, fruit and quail eggs.

Bring along any seeds, seedlings, plants or garden-related items to swap with others after Kat's talk.
